Hi Paz, I love your work!
Would you like to be involved in an exciting PhD research project called Big Blue Ball: Pictures, people place? The project investigates how the world today is making meaning and forming common impressions. Participants from all around the world are given 6 images and are asked to creatively express what each image means to them.
As a contributor to the project you can write about each image, make artworks, manipulate the images electronically, replace them with photos, pictures etc. All of the responses are then collected and collated into a range of art based formats: the illustrated thesis publication; published art books: art exhibitions; visual displays at international conferences, dedicated website etc.
As an artist, I am also responding to responses that come back, by making hand painted pictures on small wooden blocks which will then form a large, interactive display where spectators can come along and play with the blocks, rearranging them and recreating new ideas and dialogue.
I am presenting a paper on the project at the International Humanities Conference in Tunisia in the first week of July and this will include an electronic exhibition of all the visual responses the project has collected.
The project has been going for nearly two years and I now have about 40 nationalities represented. It’s very exciting! All contributors to the project will be duly acknowledged in all publications and exhibitions, and you will be listed as part of the project team. Because I have some deadlines in place for 2006 I’d like to get as many responses back by the end of March. What do you think??
If you are interested I will send you the images as a ZIP file via email, and also the information documents and consent form. I can also send it all on by mail and this will include colour copies of the images.
If you are interested, and I hope you are, please let me know! My email address is blue_ball_project@hotmail.com
