I grew up in a small village in the southeast of the Netherlands. North of Venlo, between the river Maas (or Mosa) and the German border, there is a tiny strip of land. It's about 2 kilometers wide and there's a single regional road connecting all villages. Since the river flows in the west and Germany lies in the east, they only border each other in the north or the south.
