This piece is based on a man who is struggling with racial stereotypes placed on people of color in society. Regardless of what accomplishments he makes in life. The first thing people see is his color.
What I like about this work is that this man is reflecting warm and cold colors, he is illuminated, it seems, and his eyes are painfully sad. I am curious about the image in the background. Is it a building? A cell? This painting evokes such hopelessness.
