This Piece is based on several different people, but takes on the face of one man. He is in the midst of an emotional struggle. He is surrounded by blue light which represents ancestors spirits (significant people in his life). trying to make a conncection with him and act as his guiders. In my work, Sivad represents not only a fictitious urban village where all the people potrayed are traveling to physically, but an internal, spiritual journey. Each painting reflects an essential moment in an individuals journey. Ancestor Spirits, represented by blue figures, or light, help guide these people as they travel day to day in search of Sivad.
your work is very emotional! i noticed the hands of the characters are broad and strong looking. do they symbolize something? as i look @ your other works the blue light is present in different areas which shows me how we never travel alone in our journey throughout life. in this piece that light is piercing through the eyes and forehead which is saying to me that the he and the spirits are intuned as he ponders over something. spiritual! i love this one keina!
