How do we relate child labour to violence? The mere fact in using a child to do adult work is a violation of the Childs right and many of them are beaten for not working to the expectation. In Kenya most children working as maids have been assaulted.
It's not only in Kenya.The rights of children are violated everywhere.It's been happening in my country too.This will continue until poverty level is reduced to the bearest minimum.Poverty is the major factor that causes this problem.Poverty makes these children to become a house maid.In my country, our government has been trying to eradicate this problem but few changes has been made so far.
I use to stay with my grandmother in Monterrey Mexico when I was young. I saw a lot of children that had to do hard things to survive in the streets. Some of the girls would get jobs as maids. THe boys would shine shoes. If not you would see them just asking for money. One time I saw a little boy on his knees playing a harmonico. He didn't know how to play. He oinly blew in and out. His knees were so messed up from kneeling on them for hours, He had a little can with a little bit of change. He must've only been about five years old. My grandmother was a social worker. She started a lot of food and education programs as well as help get a lot of children into good loving homes. She also had big fiestas at her house and she would hire clowns so the poor children could all come and have a good time. I wish more people would think like my grandmother.
